Is there an association between increased nuchal translucency and autism?

چکیده
Methods The study included all singleton infants born in Denmark, who had routine first trimester screening between January 1st 2008 and March 31st 2012. Children were divided into three groups by NT thickness: NT > 99th percentile (group 1), NT 95th-99th percentile (group 2), and NT < 95th percentile (group 3). Follow-up was undertaken for all children at 2 to 6 years of age, depending on date of inclusion. We obtained information on diagnoses of ASDs (childhood autism (CA), Asperger’s syndrome, and atypical autism) from the Danish Psychiatric Central Registry, a nationwide register of inpatient and outpatient contacts to psychiatric departments. Logistic regression was used to estimate the odds ratio (OR) of ASDs for children in groups 1 and 2 compared to those in group 3.

I-44: Increased Nuchal Translucency at 11-14 Weeks of Gestation As A Marker for Adverse Pregnancy Outcomes
Background: To evaluate the association of increased fetal nuchal translucency( NT) and adverse pregnancy outcomes. Materials and Methods: In a prospective study, 2221 women who were conceived after Assisted Conception were investigated by sonography independent of multiplicity between 11 and 13 weeks' gestation. We performed 2899 NT examinations during the study period(21 March 2010 to 21...
متن کاملEvaluation of Nuchal Translucency Measuremen in First Trimester Pregnancy
Background A significant number of pregnancies, particularly in women with previous histories of infertility, are associated with fetal abnormalities. Methods such as the nuchal translucency (NT) measurement enable us to identify more pregnancies with chromosomal abnormalities. MaterialsAndMethods This analytic cross-sectional study was performed in 446 pregnant women at 11-14 weeks gestation, ...
متن کامل[Increased nuchal translucency with normal karyotype].
Nuchal translucency (NT) measurement in first trimester screening between 11 and 14 weeks' gestation has now been clearly identified as a marker for aneuploidies and in particular for trisomy 21. Even in the absence of aneuploidy increased fetal nuchal translucency has been shown to be a marker for fetal heart malformations and numerous other fetal defects and genetic syndromes when the measure...
متن کاملDefects and syndromes in chromosomally normal fetuses with increased nuchal translucency thickness at 10-14 weeks of gestation.
Increased fetal nuchal translucency thickness at 10-14 weeks of gestation is a common phenotypic expression of fetal chromosomal defects, structural abnormalities and genetic syndromes. This study reports on the prevalence of structural abnormalities and genetic syndromes in 4116 chromosomally normal pregnancies with increased fetal nuchal translucency thickness and reviews the relevant literat...
متن کاملIncreased nuchal translucency and short femur length as possible early signs of osteogenesis imperfecta type III.
OBJECTIVE this paper reports an association between an increased Nuchal Translucency (NT) and Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI), a type of skeletal dysplasia. Measurement of fetal NT at 10-14 weeks of gestation is a sensitive and effective screening method for chromosomal abnormalities. METHODS a 35-year- old Caucasian woman in her fourth pregnancy was referred to our clinic for an ultrasound scan...
